Summer Fun!!!
Well, school is done, no responsiblilities on that score. And this week, Dad is on vacation, so that just means it is a little quieter in the house. (Nothing against Dad, but it is a well known fact that he is one of the loudest people in the Midwest). Though, we haven't been able to enjoy it to its full delights. My sister went into the hospital again. If you know her, you know she has a very sickly constitution, poor soul. It causes her no end of aggravation. So, we have been watching her kids the last week. Thankfully, they are good kids. And double thankfully, she came home tonight! >throws confetti--has been a long time since I have done that--throws more confetti< All in all, she looks okay. I have seen her looking worse. She and the kids are spending tomorrow over here because she can't be by herself and John (her husband) has to go to work...But we also get Elizabeth (my sister-in-law)'s kids tomorrow. And they are a *tiny* bit rambunctious. So we will have all of them over tomorrow. Whew!!!!! It has been a hard week, for my Mom especially. Poor thing.
Oh Lord. Ma is watching this movie where this plane full of convicts went down and landed in water and the water is rising and they are racing to get all the people off the plane...I can't handle being stuck underwater. *Cannot* handle it. This isn't overtly common knowledge, but when I went to camp, I took this swim test for points or something, and...I flunked. The lifeguard had to come and take me to the little shore. I was humiliated, but thankfully, I was able to laugh it off. I can now relate it to my sisters and mother with great sport. Oh well. Just thought I'd mention that.
I went to my first movie last Friday. I know, I know, '16 years old and ya've never gone to a movie???'. Well, we are very sheltered here!!! ;) Anyway, we saw Terminator: Salvation. It was pretty good, but not the kind I want to do a review on. I kept laughing when the little motorcycle robot thing did cool tricks and/or when stuff did big explosions. Those parts rocked. So, anyway, Mom and Sarah and I are probably going to see the new Star Trek on Friday. If someone has seen it and wants to tell me how it is, they are most welcome. I would enjoy it. We wish it was July or November, though. Then we could see the new Harry Potter movie or the new Twilight movie. Ah well. My birthday is in August, maybe we can see the HP one then...but don't tell Dad. He saw something about Daniel Radcliffe and a nude scene on Broadway and he blew his top and began his anti-Harry Potter campaign. We shall see what we shall see.
Ya know, all though this week has been reallyreallyreally...hectic, I am loving summer. The whole thing about no school for about 3 months is awesome. Plus, I am a senior!!! Oh my word!!! I remember first getting into youth group at church, in 7th grade, and I remember looking at the seniors then and thinking about how grown-up and pretty those girls were...and now *I* am a senior. !!!!! It is beyond belief. I don't feel grown-up and pretty. I feel about the same I did back then, except less boy crazy (boy, was I a brainless wonder back then!!! 7th grade shouldn't be allowed) and maybe a little smarter and mature. A *very* little. But that is it! No great epiphany about my adult -life-nearness, no massive shot of confidence shot through my veins, no sudden sexy 'Look out world, I am a senior!' thing. Just Hannah, working her way through her life one day at a time. I have only one year left home before I go to college. College! I am looking forward to it of course, but still! College! That is huge! Me, at college. I can't believe it. So I won't think about it yet. :D
I am really into Jane Austen now. I got my video-playing 30-ish brother to watch the 6 hour Pride and Prejudice. LoL. He watched all of it, though. Took him 3 days, but he did it! I am so proud of him. Now I have to watch a Tom Clancy based movie. I am *so* looking forward to it. >eye roll<. Oh well. At least he got some Jane Austen into him. It is bound to do him good. Next time, we will do Persuasion or Sense and Sensibility. Teeheehee.
Well, I have exhausted my mental capacities for electronic conversation for tonight. I will write soon, my loves. Take care! Don't get sun stroke!
Adieu.

Of Friends and Other Thoughts.
Currently, my mother and youngest sister are sitting beside me and reading over my shoulder. Fond family. I had the outline of a most agreeable entry in my head, but it deserted me as soon as their eyes lit upon this formerly empty page. So, I shall have to muddle on as best I can.
Hmmm, where to begin? Nope, lost that thought. Let me begin again.
HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Hmph. Well, I reread Pride and Prejudice last week. If you haven't read it, you should do so with all haste. And now I am reading Sense and Sensibility again. Thus far, the Dashwood ladies have just entered the country of Devonshire and are meeting Sir John Middleton and Co. So, Jane Austen is my current reading material of choice.
Today was very beautiful, weather-wise. Warm and sunny and breezy. Very lovely.
Sarah and Mom are gone to bed. Now I can get down to the nitty-gritty. LoL.
I hope, my dear readers, that none of you are without that pleasure that is a best friend. Life is missing something when one doesn't have one. I am more fortunate than most in that I have 2, not counting my mother and sisters. Katie A. and Sara S. I think I will talk about them now.
I will begin with Sara S. because I knew her first. We've known each other since diaper-hood, but became best friends in about 6th grade. She is smart and funny and beautiful and sweet. Unfortunately, she lives in Vermont, so I haven't seen her in at least...well, since she moved away. Maybe she moved when we were in 6th grade, and we were best friends since 4th grade...either way, it matters not. She is my friend who has had a boyfriend, and so seems more worldly-wise to me. She also got her heart broke over that guy, but thankfully, she is better now. I love her to death.
Katie A. is my friend whom I think of as innocent. I have known her and been best friends with her since...before 7th grade, approx. when she moved here from Kansas or some such place. She is my friend who is a great reader, who loves Jane Austen and the Brontes and Georgette Heyer and other such things. She is also smart and funny and veryvery sweet and beautiful, but her beauty is more glamorous, like the actresses in the 40s and 50s. She is home-schooled, like myself. She moved away to Texas about 2 years ago. She has lived practically *everywhere*. She is my well-traveled friend, having been to England (lucky little squirt). She is my kind and generous friend, who likes to think well of people. (Sometimes. We gossip horribly sometimes, alas.) I also love her to death.
Now I am feeling nostalgic. >sniff<. Oh well. :D
What else is there to talk about? Haven't heard back from BJU officially, yet. I have had a couple of phone calls just as normal procedure, but nothing like an acceptance letter or a 'sorry, we don't want you in our college' letter. I hope something will come this week, but I don't know if my hopes will be fulfilled or crushed.
I think I must go. I want to look over my blog before I go to bed. Adiue, fair ones! Be well, and know that thou are loved.
Farewell. :D

Lost in Austen and Other Janeite Musings...

The general cover for the movie.
Fangirl on the Sly! LoL.

Amanda and Elizabeth Bennet meet.

The Bennet Ladies. Some of them, anyway.
Mr. Bingley, who may be capable of more angst than you would think.
Mr. Collins. I want to gag. If I ever see this person walking down the street, I will have to laugh, gag, choke, and run away. Poor soul, yet I can feel no pity for him.

A very cute Mr. Wickham, who may not be so dastardly as was formerly known.....(oooo-OOOOOOOO-oooooh!!!!)
Miss Bingley. She has a strange secret under her sleeve...but she is still a witch, just the same.
Amanda and Mr. Darcy.
An awkward party at Lady Catherine's. She is suprisingly fond of gambling, that Lady Catherine De Bourgh. GAH!!! Wet Darcy!!! But, let us not forget the Original Wet Darcy...
Aaaaaaah!!!!!! Darcy!!!! >girlish sigh<
A now thoroughly Modern Elizabeth Bennet.
Tinky-Winky!!! One of the funny parts of the show. Be sure to watch! (Look! They got a free commercial!)
A Kiss...but is it of passion or of goodbye?!?!
And yet, A Happy Ending!!!!Adiue.

Just an O-O-O-O-Ordinary Day....

Of Shoes, and Ships, and Sealing Wax....
I have found myself a new fondness for fairy tales. Not the Disney kind, (though you all *know* that I am *quite* fond of 'Beauty and the Beast'), but Irish stuff. Like, O.R. Melling. I recently discovered her. She is an excellent authoress. I like her Chronicles of Faerie (spelling?) series, which isn't lame like it sounds. And I like the Hallowmere series. (OH MY WORD CORRINE SHOULD TOTALLY GO WITH THE PRINCE!!!) Stuff like that.
Music? I still like Blackmore's Night. (The Circle. I love that song.) I still love Joshy and Hayley. I like some Dido. 'White Flag', 'Slide', 'Hunter'. Oh, and Hayley's 'Who Painted the Moon Black?' is awesome. I love it.
OOOOH!!! For books? Tamora Pierce. I am especially fond of her "The Immortals" quartet. You should totally check it out. Daine and Numair rock. And "Trickster's Choice" books. There are only two of those, instead of her usual four. But they are good too. But you should read all of the Tortall books if you want to get the full effect. There are about 4 series-es (???) of Tortall.
The Song of the Lioness quartet.
The Immortals quartet.
Protector of the Small quartet.
(And as far as I know...)
Trickster's Choice duet.
READ THEM!!!
Anyhoo, so, basically, I have been living off books for the past while. At least they were good books, for the most part. And it isn't like living off books is a bad thing. Not at all! But still.
Stink! I think that I have to go. I am having dinner at my sister Jenni's house, and tis time to grace the table. But I shall write sooner rather than later, my love(s). Be sure not to be damp in this somewhat inclement weather that will soon lead to flowers in May. (Lame ending, I know, but I am hungry! Give me a break!) >giggle<
Adiue! Know that I love thee!
Farewell.
