Of Friends and Other Thoughts.

Hello, dearest readers. I hope that you are well.
Currently, my mother and youngest sister are sitting beside me and reading over my shoulder. Fond family. I had the outline of a most agreeable entry in my head, but it deserted me as soon as their eyes lit upon this formerly empty page. So, I shall have to muddle on as best I can.
Hmmm, where to begin? Nope, lost that thought. Let me begin again.
HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Hmph. Well, I reread Pride and Prejudice last week. If you haven't read it, you should do so with all haste. And now I am reading Sense and Sensibility again. Thus far, the Dashwood ladies have just entered the country of Devonshire and are meeting Sir John Middleton and Co. So, Jane Austen is my current reading material of choice.
Today was very beautiful, weather-wise. Warm and sunny and breezy. Very lovely.
Sarah and Mom are gone to bed. Now I can get down to the nitty-gritty. LoL.
I hope, my dear readers, that none of you are without that pleasure that is a best friend. Life is missing something when one doesn't have one. I am more fortunate than most in that I have 2, not counting my mother and sisters. Katie A. and Sara S. I think I will talk about them now.
I will begin with Sara S. because I knew her first. We've known each other since diaper-hood, but became best friends in about 6th grade. She is smart and funny and beautiful and sweet. Unfortunately, she lives in Vermont, so I haven't seen her in at least...well, since she moved away. Maybe she moved when we were in 6th grade, and we were best friends since 4th grade...either way, it matters not. She is my friend who has had a boyfriend, and so seems more worldly-wise to me. She also got her heart broke over that guy, but thankfully, she is better now. I love her to death.
Katie A. is my friend whom I think of as innocent. I have known her and been best friends with her since...before 7th grade, approx. when she moved here from Kansas or some such place. She is my friend who is a great reader, who loves Jane Austen and the Brontes and Georgette Heyer and other such things. She is also smart and funny and veryvery sweet and beautiful, but her beauty is more glamorous, like the actresses in the 40s and 50s. She is home-schooled, like myself. She moved away to Texas about 2 years ago. She has lived practically *everywhere*. She is my well-traveled friend, having been to England (lucky little squirt). She is my kind and generous friend, who likes to think well of people. (Sometimes. We gossip horribly sometimes, alas.) I also love her to death.
Now I am feeling nostalgic. >sniff<. Oh well. :D
What else is there to talk about? Haven't heard back from BJU officially, yet. I have had a couple of phone calls just as normal procedure, but nothing like an acceptance letter or a 'sorry, we don't want you in our college' letter. I hope something will come this week, but I don't know if my hopes will be fulfilled or crushed.
I think I must go. I want to look over my blog before I go to bed. Adiue, fair ones! Be well, and know that thou are loved.
Farewell. :D

Lost in Austen and Other Janeite Musings...

So, hello, all! I recently watched this movie, titled Lost in Austen. I liked it *so* much that I decided to do a review on it! Yayness!
To begin:
Amanda Price is this single chick living in modern London. She is unsatisfied with her life and has a nice obsession for Pride and Prejudice. But, suprise-suprise! One day she finds Elizabeth Bennet in her bathroom, and she somehow gets sent back to live in the Great Novel itself. Much hilarity and odd moments ensue. It has some weird twists and some odd twists, but the conclusion is just what I thought it should be. A very excellent movie.
Starring Jemima Rooper as Amanda Price and Elliot Cowen as Mr. Darcy. Actually, this is a TV mini-series of four parts, and I don't quite know the time length. Suffice it to say, when I got it from Netflix, it was on one DVD disc and was about 2 and a half hours long.
I thought it a most delightful viewage.

And now, to conclude this review, I have....PICCIES!!!!!!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAAAAAY!!!

The general cover for the movie.

Fangirl on the Sly! LoL.

Amanda and Elizabeth Bennet meet.

The Bennet Ladies. Some of them, anyway.

Mr. Bingley, who may be capable of more angst than you would think.

Mr. Collins. I want to gag. If I ever see this person walking down the street, I will have to laugh, gag, choke, and run away. Poor soul, yet I can feel no pity for him.

Mr. Darcy. He could be handsomer, but I confess, he is not bad to look at at all. :D He also has some smoldering moments in the movie, which I cannot find fault with. >girlish giggle<
A very cute Mr. Wickham, who may not be so dastardly as was formerly known.....(oooo-OOOOOOOO-oooooh!!!!)
Miss Bingley. She has a strange secret under her sleeve...but she is still a witch, just the same.

Amanda and Mr. Darcy.

An awkward party at Lady Catherine's. She is suprisingly fond of gambling, that Lady Catherine De Bourgh.

GAH!!! Wet Darcy!!! But, let us not forget the Original Wet Darcy...

Aaaaaaah!!!!!! Darcy!!!! >girlish sigh<

A now thoroughly Modern Elizabeth Bennet.

Tinky-Winky!!! One of the funny parts of the show. Be sure to watch! (Look! They got a free commercial!)

A Kiss...but is it of passion or of goodbye?!?!

And yet, A Happy Ending!!!!
There! My first review is finished! Now, all I have left to do is publish this and go put the movie back on my Netflix list....
Farewell, my ducks! Know that I love thee!
Adiue.

Just an O-O-O-O-Ordinary Day....

Hello, my duckies! How are you? I hope that you are well and loved.

Guess what? I got a hair cut! 'So what?' you may say. Well, tis an especially exciting since I went from having mid-back length hair to....this!

Bah, this pic thing is retarded. But yes, I have that hair! Except my sides are even and just long enough to tuck behind my ears. And the back is shorter, short enough to be spiky. I LOVE SPIKY!!!! >giggle<>

We are currently sitting and watching an episode of "Legend of the Seeker". Tis a slightly corny show that we like despite it's...corniness. This episode is about the evil flesh-eating monster that was really the king who was protecting his kingdom but got killed and he had killed his queen as the monster so the throne was taken up by his daughter and the evil kingdom of D'Hara will invade and take over the kingdom unless the monster was alive and now that it is dead they have to keep pretending that the monster is alive and...tis just a mess. But they will make sure that it will turn out all right in the end. Of course they will. This is, after all, Television.

Did I tell yall that I really love Taylor Swift's Love Story? I do. She is awesome, at least with that song. I don't know any of her other songs. I have one of her CDs on hold at the library, but I am thus far at least 100th on the list. Go figure.

Saw the Twi movie. Don't tell anyone. Twas good, but I love the book better.

Anything else exciting? School ends in a couple of weeks. I have a job lined up for the summer being a mother's helper for my sister Jenni. I *am* excited about that. I will get a regular income, and Mom is taking half for college expenses. The regular income part is good for keeping up my *new* haircut. :D So all in all, that is a good thing.

I think I have to go now. >sigh<>

Farewell. For now. >impish grin<

Of Shoes, and Ships, and Sealing Wax....

Hello, my dearests! How are you? I hope that you are well, and that you are strong in spirit, mind, body, spirit, soul, and heart-wise. How am I? Well, I am fantabulous, now that I am here.
I have found myself a new fondness for fairy tales. Not the Disney kind, (though you all *know* that I am *quite* fond of 'Beauty and the Beast'), but Irish stuff. Like, O.R. Melling. I recently discovered her. She is an excellent authoress. I like her Chronicles of Faerie (spelling?) series, which isn't lame like it sounds. And I like the Hallowmere series. (OH MY WORD CORRINE SHOULD TOTALLY GO WITH THE PRINCE!!!) Stuff like that.
Music? I still like Blackmore's Night. (The Circle. I love that song.) I still love Joshy and Hayley. I like some Dido. 'White Flag', 'Slide', 'Hunter'. Oh, and Hayley's 'Who Painted the Moon Black?' is awesome. I love it.
OOOOH!!! For books? Tamora Pierce. I am especially fond of her "The Immortals" quartet. You should totally check it out. Daine and Numair rock. And "Trickster's Choice" books. There are only two of those, instead of her usual four. But they are good too. But you should read all of the Tortall books if you want to get the full effect. There are about 4 series-es (???) of Tortall.

The Song of the Lioness quartet.
The Immortals quartet.
Protector of the Small quartet.
(And as far as I know...)
Trickster's Choice duet.

READ THEM!!!

Anyhoo, so, basically, I have been living off books for the past while. At least they were good books, for the most part. And it isn't like living off books is a bad thing. Not at all! But still.
Stink! I think that I have to go. I am having dinner at my sister Jenni's house, and tis time to grace the table. But I shall write sooner rather than later, my love(s). Be sure not to be damp in this somewhat inclement weather that will soon lead to flowers in May. (Lame ending, I know, but I am hungry! Give me a break!) >giggle<
Adiue! Know that I love thee!
Farewell.

Just Random Thoughts

So, it is the New Year now. Mazeltov!!! Sorry to my Russian readers that I flatter myself that I have. Wow, I am getting slap-happy. It is almost 8 o'clock now. Are you suprised that I am tired this early? Are you worrying for my health? Fond readers. >beams< No, tis just that my fam is watching my brother and sister-in-law's kids while they are out of town. For the week. Oi.
Not that they are bad kids!!!! It is just, they are really young and are really highly energized and one of them is sleeping in my room. But I love them. They have their cute moments. :D
So, anyway, after that scenic rabbit's trail, we come back to the original point. New Year. 2009. Does anyone else find that 2009 is more angular, more strict and stern than 2008? Look at them side by side. 2008 2009. See? 2008 seems somehow more forgiving. Maybe you are thinking "???. Why does this matter?". Maybe some of you get it.
Despite thinking that 2008 seems better than 2009, most ways, I am sooo glad to be rid of 2008. 2008 had some of the worst times of my life in it, and I am *not* being melodramatic. The other thing about 2009? It is crisper, sharper, and cleaner. It is all about the homey, sweet/sharp scent of lemon soap that you use to wash dishes or mop the floor with. It is all about making something new. A whole new year. Doesn't that thought invigorate you? Charge your blood with an electricity that pushes you to try something new? Or fix something in your life that desperately needed fixing? It does for me.
Do you think that love lasts forever? A dear friend of mine just learned that in some ways, it doesn't. And she is hurting really badly. And I might as well let you know that the married couples that I know hardly have idyllic relationships. Hahaha. That is somewhat of an understatement. Anyway, for such a romantic that you know all too well that I am, it is sad. I mean, I thought that...well, never mind what I thought. The think about this blog is that I blab way too much. Don't worry, darlings, it isn't you fault. It is me. To go off on another rabbit trail, I am an empathizer. I hear things and I actually get depressed. Tis a trifle lame, I know it! But that's how I am. Anyhoo, but I was just wondering about that.
Love. Eternal or Superficial? The World May Never Know.
>laughs< Otay, tis time for me to get off. Adieu, my loves! Don't catch cold! Be sure to wrap yourselves up properly when you go outside into the bitter cold! Or if you live where it is ever sunny, be sure to put on enough sunscreen! Be sure to remember that my love ever follows you in spirit!
